I’m Michael Peterson. After I retired, I took a motorcycle trip in Vietnam and discovered some of the best food, peppercorns and spices I had ever tasted. The number of affordable Michelin rated restaurants is incredible. In fact, my first experience eating worms was that a Michelin rated restaurant watched to the end for pictures and details.
But you do not have to eat at a Michelin rated restaurant in Vietnam to enjoy great food the everyday. Local restaurants and street food are fantastic too. That trip renewed my appreciation for authentic, fresh, high quality ingredients and gave me a new purpose in retirement. Sharing exceptional spices with others.
So I founded Authentic Origin Spices. After 40 years of traveling the world and experiencing its food, I’m now setting out to find exceptional spices directly from the places where they’re grown. Today. I’m proud to offer Viet Highlands Dak Lak Noir whole black peppercorns sourced from the Dak Lak region of Vietnam’s Central Highlands. I personally traveled to the region, more than once. I visited the farms, met the people who grow the pepper, and selected these peppercorns at the source. They are meant to be freshly ground in your pepper grinder or mill, releasing a bold aroma and rich, complex flavor that pre-ground pepper simply cannot match. Whether you love to cook or simply love to eat great food like I do, you’ll be surprised how much better food can taste with truly exceptional pepper. In the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing videos from my travels through Vietnam. I’ll show you how pepper is grown, harvested, and processed, what makes one peppercorn better than another, and how to choose great pepper for yourself. Please like, share and follow for more. If you have questions about peppercorns, Vietnam, or traveling the world, leave them in the comment section. I’ve been to a few places and I’d be glad to answer your questions in future videos. The first full day I was in Hanoi at Lamai Garden, a beautiful Michelin Guide listed restaurant in Hanoi that later received a Michelin green star. As the tasting menu progressed, they brought a small, round fried ball cake to my table and explained the dish in Vietnamese. I asked a few more questions, then they told me it was made of sandworms! Of course, I decided to eat it and surprisingly it was very good. After I ate it, I looked up a picture of sandworms on Google. It’s probably a good thing I waited until afterward, because if I had seen what they looked like at first, I am not sure I would have tried it. I may have to make an entire video about that dining experience. It was fantastic. It was exceptional. In fact, subscribe and watch for it and I’ll definitely do it. Thanks.

Most pre-ground pepper is just dust. This freshly ground pepper isn’t. It’s DAK LAK NOIR handpicked from Vietnam Central Highlands, 570+ grams per liter density. And I like mine Coarse. Denser peppercorns mean more oil, more aroma, more flavor in every crack. Taste the difference density makes. Order yours today.
